Roberta Beswick and James Kavanaugh were united in marriage at the First Methodist Church, Rock Island,
Illinois on December 29, 1978.

The bride is the daughter of Robert and Rita Beswick and is at present an elementary teacher in the Buren Elementary School, Buren, Germany.

James is the son of Vivian and Bill Kavanaugh, former Greenwood residents, now of Brownsville, Texas.

Attending the wedding from his area were Lydia Vinger, the groom’s maternal grandmother, and Dick and Shirley Thompson, Neillsville, Patti Joe Thompson, Portage, Nan Jean Siser, Eau Claire, Kay Kavanaugh, Jeddah Saudi Arabia, and the groom parents also were in attendance.

The newlyweds left for Buren, Germany on December 31, where they will make their home for the next two years.

Cedar Avenue, Marshfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lindner, Marshfield. Miss Teter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel M. Teter, Route 1, Owen, announced the engagement.

The bride elect is a graduate of Loyal High School and the Minnesota Medical Institute in Minneapolis. She is employed at the Marshfield Clinic. Her fiancé, a graduate of Columbus High School, Marshfield, is employed by Praschak Machine Company.

Rayhorn, Loy L. (8 Dec 1895 – 6 Jan 1979)

Loy L. Rayhorn, 83, 405 W. Main Street, Spencer, passed away at the Colonial House of Colby on Saturday, January 6, 1979 at 9:15 a.m. Funeral services were held at the Spencer United Methodist church on Tuesday, January 9, 1979 and burial was in the Loyal Cemetery. Rev. Charles Strong officiated and Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rayhorn was born on December 8, 1895 in Lena, Illinois (Stevenson County). He married Meta Johnsen in Spencer on June 30, 1921. He farmed in the Spokeville area, moved in 1934 to Ebbe Community in the Town of Lincoln, where he farmed until retiring in 1960. He moved to Spencer in 1972. They celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Marshfield Methodist Parlors in 1971.

Mr. Rayhorn was a member of the Ebbe School Board for a number of years, Town of Lincoln Assessor for a number of years, a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church, Spencer Senior Citizens and the Modern Woodmen of America.

Surviving are his wife, meta, two sons, Russel Rayhorn, New Berlin, Donald Rayhorn, Spencer; two daughters, Mrs. Woodrow (Marjorie) Herro, New Berlin, Mrs. George (Carol) Freeman, Brownsville, Texas; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. William (Maude) McClain, Evansville, Indiana.

One sister and three brothers preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were Dale Rondorf, Wayne Woeski, James Zayeshek, Dale, Bryan and Woody Herro.

Miss Hermina “Minnie” Boettcher, age 87, 812 Plummer Street, Wausau, died at her home Saturday, January 6,1979 of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 9, 1979 at the Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, with the Rev. William Metter, pastor of St. Stephens’ Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery.

Miss Boettcher was born October 19, 1891 in the Town of Beaver, Clark County. She lived on the home farm with her brother at Route 1, Loyal, all her life until moving to Wausau 11 years ago. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Wausau.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. John (Martha) Luther, Wausau, and one brother, Max, Marshfield. Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were Alois Bielen, Ben Clouse, Edward Rohloff, William Stroetz, Albert Haslow and Donald Schwann.

Amy Lynn Vetterkind died at birth on January 1, 1979 at the Memorial Hospital, Neillsville.

Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Mike Veterkind, Route 3, Thorp.

Burial services were held January 4, 1979 at the Thorp Funeral Home, with the Rev. R. W. Olson, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, officiating. Burial was in the east Thorp Cemetery.

She is survived by her parents, one sister, Jody Ann; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Gudmanson, Cadott, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Holley Vetterkind, Route 2, Greenwood; great-grandparents, Mr. Victor Gudmanson, Cadott, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dresel, Jim Falls, and Mrs. Gertrude Truse, Route 3, Thorp.
