Elroy G. Plantico, 81, of 1930 Avon St. in Wisconsin Rapids died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with military rites provided by VFW Post 2534.
Elroy was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Clark County, Wis., to George and Marie (Robertson) Plantico. He married Arlene Worncke on April 24, 1948, in the town of Withee. He served his country in the Army during World War II and was on the front lines during the battle at Normandy Beach. Elroy was later employed by Consolidated Papers in its Biron Division for 30 years before retiring in 1984 as a supercalender operator.
Elroy enjoyed gardening and working on cars. He was a member of VFW Post 2534 in Wisconsin Rapids.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Shirley (Ronald) Dye of Arpin; son, Dennis Plantico of Wisconsin Rapids; brother, Gilbert (Anna) Plantico of Wisconsin Rapids; sisters, Edna Reyzer of Abbotsford and Margie Miller of Minnesota; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leo.
Friends May call Taylor Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from noon until time of services.
