Carstensen, Vera Myrtle (5 July 1910 - 8 April 2005)
Vera Carstensen, 94, of Marshfield, formerly of Neillsville, died April 8, 2005, in the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral Services for Vera will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton. The Rev. John Trewyn will officiate. Music will be provided by Caroline Helm, organist. Interment will be in the Windfall Cemetery in Granton. Casketbearers are Wayne Greeler, Brian Greeler, Scott Lindner, Steve Wickman, Lowell Roehl and Tom Wehrman.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Vera Myrtle Carstensen was born on July 5, 1910, in Granton, the daughter of Herman and Clara (Ackerman) Roehl. She attended Cozy Corner Grade School in Chili. After her schooling, she helped her mother with the daily chores of raising a family, and she also worked for the neighbors in the area, helping them with their housework. She was united in marriage to Artie Levanduske on June 22, 1932, in Granton.
He died on May 11, 1941, as a result of a farming accident. Vera was later married to William Carstensen on June 26, 1954, in Granton. He died on July 10, 1974.
Vera was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Granton. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards, puzzles and games with them. She enjoyed birdwatching, embroidering, sewing and cooking. She truly enjoyed helping her family whenever she was needed.
She is survived by two daughters, Wileen (Ted) Stiemke of Spencer and Velda (Erland) Greeler of Neillsville; six grandchildren, Sheri (Mike) Tomke, Sharlene (Tom) Wehrman, Wayne (Marie) Greeler, Karen (Scott) Lindner, Beverly (Steve) Wickman and Brian Greeler; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Lila (Gerald) Nelson of Spencer; four brothers, Walter (special friend, Irene Tischendorf) Roehl of Granton, Harvey Roehl of Neillsville, Carl (Delma) Roehl of Chili and Leo (Verna) Roehl of Chili; two sisters-in-law, Naomi Roehl and Evelyn Roehl, both of Marshfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; one sister, Evelyn; and three brothers, Glenn, Russell and Alvin Roehl.
