Edwin  & Syneva Evanson Family

Edwin Cornelius and Syneva Evanson both immigrated from Norway, he born September 1, 1885 at Oslo, she was born March 10, 1889 at Vallers. Both came to America at an early age, met, and were married in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and moved to Argyle. In 1919, they moved to a farm in the Greenwood area and lived there until 1933, then moving to Grant township. Their children were Stanley (who married Ena Leah Louise Fladmark in Maplewood Twp., Otter Tail, Minn., and had two daughters: Myrtle Marie and Carolyn Rae), Orville (married Florence Miller of Neillsville and had two sons: Dennis and Duane), Agnes (married Arne H. Matheson of Neillsville at Glencoe, Minnesota, April 30, 1937 and had one daughter, Sheri Dawn), Roland (married to Charlotte Newman of Wausau, one son, Jeff, two daughters, Jerri and Janelle).

In 1962, their son, Stanley, died at the age of 52 years in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota where he had operated a trailer business.  He was born May 4, 1910, graduated from the Greenwood High School in 1928 and was married to Ena Louise Fladmark, June 20, 1937. He was buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Evanson and son Orville and his wife made a trip to Norway in 1967 to visit relatives and birth place. In 1959, Edwin and Syneva celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, July 16, 1969, with an open house in their home.

Mr. Evanson was in the Army during World War I, and son, Orville, in the Navy during World War II. Son Roland was in the Army during the Korean War.  Edwin died September 26, 1969 and Syneva passed on less than a year later, June 24, 1970.  Both are buried in the Neillsville, Wisconsin City Cemetery.
