Lemke, Harold C. (14 May 1923 - 31 Mar 2005)

Harold C. Lemke, 81, Marshfield, died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at his home. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, April 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Pallbearers were Ken Voss, Ken Schmidt, Roger Kadolph, Scott Elmhorst, Wayne Vaughan, and Gary Rasmussen.

Harold Charles Lemke was born on May 14, 1923, in the town of Sherman, Clark County, to Henry and Martha (nee Konshok) Lemke. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Catlin School. He married Vera H. Elmhorst on March 23, 1946, at the Zion Lutheran parsonage, Granton. He bought his father’s farm, near Loyal, and farmed for 33 years, retiring in 1979. He sold the farm in 1979, and moved to Marshfield, where he worked for the city of Marshfield, during the summer, for several years, and also at Figi’s. He started working for V&H Automotive, Marshfield, on March 8, 1988, and worked there until Dec. 30, 2004. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed word puzzles, attending local stock car races and NASCAR.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Vera, Marshfield; two daughters, Sandra (companion, Robert Nesvick) Pratz, Anchorage, Alaska, and Barbara (George) Richards, Houston, Texas; two sons, Thomas (Susan) Lemke, Kasson, Minn., and Kenneth (Barbara) Lemke, Marshfield; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and one brother, Norman Lemke, on Oct. 5, 1972.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
