Komis, Dorothy T. (18 Nov. 1937 - 17 April 2005)

Dorothy T. Komis, age 67, of 701 S. Felker Ave., died on Sunday, April 17, 2005, in the Emergency Room of Saint Joseph's Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Peter Manikam will officiate and Suzanne Golden will be the organist for John F. Binder and James W. Eckes, vocalists. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be her sons and sons-in-law and a grandson Joel Hernandez.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home and again from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. There will be a Sacred Heart Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service at 4 p.m. followed by a combined Parish and Knights of Columbus rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, both at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born on Nov. 18, 1937, in Thorp to Joseph and Stella (Lato) Grabowski. She was a 1955 graduate of Thorp High School and also was a graduate of Saint Joseph's School of Nursing, Marshfield. She was employed as a registered nurse in the pediatrics unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital until 1973. She later worked part time at Northern Auto Supply in Marshfield.

She was united in marriage to Paul E. Komis on June 18, 1960, at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Paul died on June 13, 2002.

Dorothy, whose nickname was "Doc," enjoyed golfing, camping, gardening and Foxfire Gardens, bird watching and listening, playing piano, organ and accordion, fishing, cross country skiing and was a Green Bay Packers fan. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Parish Council of Catholic Women, and the Lady Knights.

Dorothy is survived by five children, 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter: Jeffrey (Sarah) Komis of Spencer and their son Warren; Lana (Mike) Peterson of Marshfield and their children, Joel, Ryan, Tylor, and Jeremy; Mark (Karin) Komis of Spencer and their children, Levi, Logan and Landon; Patrick (Karan) Komis of Marshfield and their children, Dustin (Heather) Weigel and their daughter Lexus, and Jeremy Weigel and Randy and Jacob Komis; Dawn (Dan) Lenz of Duluth, Minn. She is also survived by five sisters and three brothers, Mary Kryzanowski of Thorp, Amy (Joseph) Janowski of Palatine, Ill., Sister Rose Grabowski of Onalaska, Stella Bushell and Patti Grabowski, both of Des Plaines, Ill., Joseph (Ann) Grabowski of Thorp, Larry (Diane) Grabowski of Chetek, and Steve (Michele) Grabowski of Coon Valley.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Theresa, in infancy. Memorials May be designated to Sacred Heart Parish or to the National Pro-Life Alliance. Condolences May be sent online to: rembsfh.com
