Leader) Two wedding
anniversaries were celebrated at the Evangelical Church, Medford,
Saturday evening, May 26, 1928, the fiftieth wedding anniversary of
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lueddecke and the twenty-fifty wedding anniversary
of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Handel. Special services were held in the
church which were followed by a reception in the church
basement. The church was
filled to capacity with relatives and friends of the honored
couples. Rev. J. Bizer conducted the impressive services and the
Misses Irma Bizer and Delores Thielke sang "Silver Threads Among
the Gold," accompanied by Miss Hildegard Bizer at the organ. Attending Mr. and
Mrs. Lueddecke were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Zeit, this city, and Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Rau of Dorchester, and the attendants of Mr. and Mrs.
Handel were Mr. and Mrs. Gust Handel. After the services
in the church all repaired to the church basement where
congratulations were extended and where a program was presented by
the Ladies Aid, of which organization both brides and members. The
president, Mrs. G. Ruesch, and Helen Muehler both read interesting
poems and Mrs. Ruesch presented each couple with the gifts of the
Ladies Aid and Mrs. Gust Genrich presented Mrs. Lueddecke with a
remembrance from the Dorchester Ladies Aid society of which Mrs.
Lueddecke is also a member. Assemblyman John Gamper gave a short
talk and this was followed by other numbers of the program
including readings, songs and humorous talks. At eleven
o’clock an excellent lunch was served. Out of town guests
here for the occasion were: Miss Elsa Schaefer, Milwaukee; Mrs.
Dora Girdwood, Wausau; Mrs. Otto Plockelman and two children, Park
Falls; Mr. and Mrs. John Rau, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Gust Genrich
and daughter Olga, Mrs. Wm. Copeland, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rau, Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Schulz and Mr. and Mrs. C. Gumz, all of Dorchester. All
the children of the respective couples were present, also several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs.
Lueddecke. Sunday afternoon
and evening Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Muehler of Dorchester entertained in
honor of Mrs. Muehler’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lueddecke.
There were about 200 guests present at the 6:30 dinner. Those
present from this city were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thielke and family
and their guest, Mrs. Girdwood, Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Zeit and
Miss Marie LeSage. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Lueddecke present
at both receptions were: Mrs. R. Blasel, Stetsonville, Mrs. Otto
Plockelman, Park Falls, Mrs. Max Schaefer, Deer Creek, Mrs. Oscar
Schroeder, Mrs. Bruno Muehler and William and Louis Lueddecke of
Dorchester. Mr. and Mrs.
Lueddecke came to the United States 46 years ago on June 11th,
1883. Seven years ago, when Louis bought the old home place they
moved to Medford where they are spending the evening of their lives
