Colby, Wis. - Mrs. Genevieve Christofferson, 90, Colby, formerly of Waupaca, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial House of Colby.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby, the Rev. Francis P. Rushman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery. The body will lie in state after 1 p.m. Friday.
The former Genevieve Heaney was born Jan. 24, 1887 in Lanark. She received her education in Waupaca and graduated from the former Stevens Point Normal School. She taught for several years before marrying Dr. Albert M. Christofferson Feb. 3, 1910 in Colby.
They lived in Colby where he practiced medicine until 1920 when they moved to Waupaca, her husband continuing his practice until retiring in 1960.
Mrs. Christofferson was a charter member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waupaca, the American Legion Auxiliary, Woman’s Club and the Garden Club, all of Waupaca. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Marion) Loos of Colby; two sons, Dr. J. W. Christofferson of Maryville, Tenn., and Robert of Saratoga, Calif., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband and two sisters.
