Sprecher, Argent Rosetta (23 April 1911 - 6 June 2004)
SAUK CITY/ BLACKHAWK - Argent Sprecher, age 93, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2004, as a result of a fall. She was born on April 23, 1911, in Dorchester, Wis., to the Rev. John and Bertha (Nickels) Marks.
Argent graduated from Jefferson High School on 1929, and received a bachelor of science degree from North Central College, Naperville, Ill., in 1933. She did post-graduate studies at UW-Madison. She taught home economics and English in Horicon and Downers Grove, Ill. During her father's ministry at Blackhawk Methodist Church, she met her future husband. On Aug. 21, 1943, she married Clarence Sprecher. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1985.
Argent was an active member of the Blackhawk Church, where she taught Sunday school and was very involved with church activities. Argent served on the school board during consolidation of the rural grade schools and the Sauk Prairie High School. In their retirement, Argent and Clarence enjoyed traveling throughout the world. Argent was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas (Connie) Sprecher, Baraboo, Daniel (Sharon) Sprecher, Blackhawk, and Gerald (Sarah) Sprecher, Woodridge, Ill.; five grandchildren, Tracey (Steve) Breunig, Blackhawk, Sarah (Dan) Lewison, Baraboo, John Sprecher, Ravensburg, Germany, and Elizabeth and Colin Sprecher, Woodridge, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Elise and Caroline Lewison, and Dylan Breunig; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Hehenberger and Marcella Sprecher; and a brother-in-law, Cecil McCready.
She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Argent was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Corey Sprecher; and her sisters, Ronnata Griffiths and Naomi Meyer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the BLACKHAWK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, with Pastor Carol Quinn officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment will follow in the Blackhawk Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials May be given to the church.
Argent touched many lives through her years as a teacher, and will be remembered for her great love of her family and friends.
