Muthig, Elizabeth (8 NOV 1815 - 23 OCT 1879)
Died, in this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), on Thursday, the 23rd inst., from internal hemorrhage, Mrs. Elizabeth Muthig, in the 64th year of her age.
The death of Mrs. Muthig was very sudden, she being about the house feeling as usual until about fifteen or twenty minutes before death ensued. She was born in Pfafenhausen, Bavaria, on the 8th day of Nov. 1815, under the maiden name Rieth. At an early age she was married to Mr. Peter Muthig, who died some years ago. In 1869 she came to America and settled in Wisconsin, at Kaukauna, Outagamie Co., where a brother, Mr. Jacob Rieth, was residing, and there she resided until last November, when she came to this place with her son John.
Those who had become acquainted with her, deemed her a most estimable and consistent woman. She was the mother of four children, two sons and two daughters; the two sons, of which John is the youngest, are still living, and deeply mourn her sudden death.
The funeral occurred at the Catholic Church, Saturday morning, Rev. Father Schulttlehofer officiating.
