J. P. Ney and a couple of friends from Sheboygan visited Emil Ney last week. One of them was looking around for a chance to buy some real estate.

Mr. Himes of Beaver was a lucky bird here the other day. By walking through the woods with a gun, he happened to see something unexpectedly. He fired and a big wolf dropped dead which brought him a nice little sum of money.

Elmer Brown has traded his store to Frank Wheeler for Frank’s farm of 80 acres. Mr. Brown will move to N. Dakota where he intends going into the mercantile business. We are sorry to lose Mr. Brown and his family

Longwood - May 14.

Mr. Mink has moved into the hotel.

Mrs. John Arnold is on the sick list.

There was a new member joined the Beavers Saturday evening.

G. B. Andrews and A. C. Barr were trout fishing at Tioga. They got about sixty.

The Woodmen sociable was not very well attended on account of the storm coming up just as the people were ready to go.

A large crowd gathered at the school house Friday evening to hear the children speak and sing. The program was very good and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.

The whole neighborhood was shocked Tuesday morning by hearing of the sudden death of Fred Awe. The funeral Friday was a large one, thirty-five teams following the remains to Green Grove from here.

Eaton Loyal Liners. - May 14.

Dr. Richmond of Loyal passed through our vicinity Sunday.

Willie Smith has been on the sick list during the past week.

Geo. Shields expects to raise his barn the first of this week.

Roy Meek of Bright was seen in our midst the first of the week.

Harry Stoneburg went to Bright last week where he has employment.

Mrs. Lampe was the guest of Mrs. Annie Verdow Sunday afternoon.

Geo. Eggett, who has been seriously ill is reported to be gaining slowly.

West Beaver. - May 14.

Arthur Himes killed a wolf last week.

Robert Smith, who is working at Bright, spent Sunday at home.

Mrs. John Scovil visited her daughter Mrs. John Redwine Sunday.

Mrs. Gus. Vine and mother, Mrs. Robert Smith, visited Mrs. Ira Davis recently.

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Haupt called on Mr. and Mrs. August Acker Sunday afternoon.

John Scovil and son Ezra drove to Greenwood Saturday, the former to attend the post meeting.

Mr. and Mrs. Martin Richeleu and two youngest children Margie and Doris visited at Sam Severson’s Sunday.

Mrs. Earnest Sinclair received the sad news of her mother’s death the past week, Mrs. Fryatt of Spring Creek, Adams Co.

The sociable which was held at Martin Richeleu’s last Thursday evening was well attended and all reported an enjoyable evening.

Pearl and Loey Redwine, Martha and Bertha Guskey and Alice Richeleu called on Marlea Wilber who has been ill for the past two weeks and is now slowly on the gain.

W. E. Thwing met with a little accident last Wednesday while helping Arthur Himes log, catching his hand in a way as to tear the finger nail off from the index finger on his left hand.

Twenty-Six Road. - May 14.

John McKenna lost a fine colt last week.

Lizzie Hermann is sewing for Mrs. Geo. Hewett.

Anna Blecka has been sewing for Birdie Chadwick the past week.

F. H. Pfunder was a professional caller in our neighborhood last week.

Frank Hermann was clipping sheep for some of the neighbors last week.

Mr. Stephens of Spokeville was a professional caller in this vicinity last Wednesday.

Mr. Miller of Omro, Winnebago county, is calling on friends on Twenty-six Road. He wishes to buy an improved farm.

Will Digmin of Calumet county is visiting his friend Geo. Jenkins. Mr. Digmin drove down from John Heller’s place near Thorp yesterday.

Christie. - May 14.

Chas. Bostick is hewing out timbers for Len Shaw’s barn.

Hemlock. - May 15.

Hugo Haglund left for the West Sunday.

Mrs. Geo. Beard visited in Hemlock Sunday.

P. M. Stevens was seen on our streets Wednesday.

Lucy Shanks called at Jack Smith’s Wednesday.

Mrs. T. O. Withee was a Sunday visitor at Owen.

T. O. Withee has gone to La Crosse after his automobile.

Mrs. Otto Anderson visited Mrs. Haglund Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Hoyt of Marshfield has been visiting at the Withee home.

Stella Masters visited with Cynthia Varney from Friday till Monday.

F. W. Anderson and wife were over Sunday visitors at Elmer Binning’s.

Grace Daugherty came up for the play Saturday evening and a visit with the home folks.

John Maynard returned to his home Friday after spending the winter in northern part of the state.

Hugh Shanks who is living with his daughter, Mrs. Jack Smith, has been confined to his bed some six or eight weeks.

Mesdames K. Anderson, Haglund, O. Varney, Warner and Arnold were entertained at Mrs. Lovina Warner’s Saturday afternoon.

Messers. Daugherty and Ketchpaw have finished the wall for C. A. Anderson house and the carpenters have begun work on the house. Limprecht and Baumann have the job of building.

At the school meeting held Friday evening they voted to raise $1600 to repair the school house and build an addition on the south side with basement under the whole. It is to be heated with furnace.
