Mahoney, Winnie (30 JUN 1870 - 14 Feb 1882)

Died, in this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), on the 14th day of Feb. 1882, Winnie, oldest daughter of Wm. And Sarah B. Mahoney, aged 11 years, 7 months and 14 days.

Last Saturday morning little Winnie appeared to be in her usual health and nothing indicated that in the short space of three days her earthly existence would be terminated. After playing awhile with her sister she was taken violently ill, with what developed into spinal fever and diphtheria, and from which no human efforts were sufficient to save her. A bright intelligent little child who had before suffered from disease has gone where sickness and death are unknown, there to await the coming of the loved ones. Thus is one more household invaded by the dread messenger, one more fireside at which are aching hearts, a vacant chair, desolation, anguish. The silent tear seems more fitting than words to express our sympathy with the sorrowing family.
