Bredemeyer, Herbert (Nov 1877 - 24 Feb 1882)
Died in this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), on Friday, the 24th inst., of malignant scarlet fever, Herbert, only son of Fred and Martha Bredemeyer, aged four years and three months.
"Little Herby is gone." The mournful cadence of that sentence can only be realized by those who have been called upon to undergo the sorrowful trail of laying in the cold, dark ground, the lifeless remains of one held most dear. Herby was known to nearly every person in the village and with all he was a great favorite. He was a bright, intelligent boy, living far beyond his years. On Monday of last week, he was playing in and about the store as if he had never known what pain and sickness were, in the evening he complained of severe pains in the head and said, "Mama I am sick," and from that time he failed rapidly until Friday morning he passed peacefully away. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the residence, and was attended by nearly all our villagers and by many from the country surrounding. And man a tear fell in unison with, and in heartfelt sympathy for the bereaved parents.
