Prosser, Mary J. (31 May 1863 - 2 JUN 1883)
Died, in this city (Colby, Clark County, Wis.), on Saturday, the 2nd inst., of puerperal fever, Mary J., wife of James F. Prosser, aged 20 years.
Mary J. Dobie was born in the town of Empire, Fond du Lac Co., on the 31st day of May 1863. Her mother died the next day. Her father soon married again and removed the family to Ohio. Mary lived with her father until the death of her step-mother, when she returned to Fond du Lac and resided with her grandparents until June 9th, 1882, when she was untied in marriage with Mr. Prosser who mourns her early demise. About three years ago her father died, leaving her wholly an orphan. She came with her husband to this place the former part of last December.
On the 21st of May 1883, she gave birth to a son that lived by a week and preceded its mother to that other shore by only five days. The entire community sympathizes with the bereaved husband in his affliction.
The funeral services were held at the school house last Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. N. L. Sweet. The remains were interred in Colby Cemetery.
