Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis. - Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the former Evangelical and Reformed Church on West Fifth St. here, for Fred S. Stelloh, 83, president of the First National Bank, a former Neillsville mayor, who died Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. The Rev. W. C. Koehler, pastor of the United Church of Christ, and the Rev. Jacob Grether of the Winnebago Children’s Home, will officiate. Burial will take place in the Neillsville Cemetery.
Friends May call at the Georgas Funeral Home on Fifth St. from this evening until 12:30 p.m. Monday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the time of services.
Fred S. Stelloh was born Oct. 22, 1879 in Milwaukee, where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stelloh, operated a large sash and door factory. He was educated in Milwaukee, and in 1893 the family came to Clark County, settling on a 102-acre farm site in the town of Pine Valley, where the family developed a farm. Mr. Stelloh did farm work and worked at sawing lumber with his father.
He began his career in the farm machinery line as an employee of E. E. Crocker and Luethe Co. In 1910 he purchased an interest from L. H. Howard in what was known then as the Howard and Seif Implement Co. and remained in that partnership six years. In 1916 he developed his own business and as the automobile came into the picture he entered the garage business and was an auto dealer for two makes of cars.
Mr. Stelloh took an active interest in public life. He served as alderman of the Third Ward for four years, and was elected mayor in 1934.
His marriage to the former Anna Martens took place in 1906 at Neillsville. She died during the influenza epidemic, in 1918, leaving him with five children. Later he married Elsie Wegner Glass at Neillsville, who survives him.
Mr. Stelloh was president of the board of directors of the First national Bank at the time of his death. He also was a charter member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Neillsville Kiwanis Club, and was a member of the United Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Stelloh is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Horace (Mercedes) Ballam, Milwaukee; Mrs. Elroy (Florence) Theil, Marshfield; and Mrs. Thaddeus (Lorraine) Zajac, Neillsville; one son, Clarence, Milwaukee; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Zank, Mrs. William (Ella) Stockwell and Mrs. Clara Pagenkopf, all of Neillsville; one brother, Ed, Neillsville; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Alfred and frank, died in an airplane accident in 1930; three brothers, George, Henry and Conrad, and by one sister, Anna, also preceded him in death, in addition to his first wife.

Funeral services for Fred S. Stelloh, 83, of 313 W. 5th Street, Neillsville, who died Thursday following surgery in Marshfield, were held Monday from the former Evangelical and Reformed Church in Neillsville. The Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ, and the Rev. Jacob Grether of the Winnebago Children’s Home, officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. Stelloh, president of the First National Bank and a former mayor of Neillsville, was born October 22, 1879, in Milwaukee. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stelloh, who operated a large sash and door factory in Milwaukee. The farm consisted of 102 acres and the family cleared the land and built farm buildings. Mr. Stelloh did farm work and worked with his father in sawing lumber.

Pallbearers were Jas. A. Musil, Alfred Kleckner, William Yenni, W. H. Allen, Fred Wall and Wendell Crothers.
"The Lord is my Shepherd" and "Unto the Hills" were sung by Rev. Jacob Grether, accompanied by Mrs. Grether.
People from away attending the funeral were: Clarence Stelloh, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stelloh, Thomas Stelloh, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Ballam, Mrs. Ella Rieck, and James C. Stelloh, all of Milwaukee; Archie Stockwell of Cleveland, O.; Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Thiel and Florence Thiel of Marshfield,; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Speich of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Feutz, Wendell Crothers, Mr. and Mrs. J. Gluch, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Sternitzky, of Granton; Mrs. Chester Ploeger of Garner, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Timmler of Loyal; Al Goldamer of Abbotsford; and Mr. and Mrs. D. Mursett of Waukesha.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
