Charles Klapatauskas, 74, Withee, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, in the emergency room of Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday , May 13, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen. The Rev. Eric Linzmaier officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Pallbearers were his nephews, Andrew Becker, Arlen Klapatauskas, Randy Klapatauskas, and Sam Vallone. Full Military Rites were conducted by Owen American Legion and Owen-Withee Veterans Club.
Charles Matthew Klapatauskas was born June 3, 1930, in Clark County to Michael and Katherine Klapatauskas. He was a 1950 graduate of Greenwood High School. Charles, affectionately called "Charlie," married Marjorie Moberg on April 23, 1955, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. HE was employed with the former Foremost Foods in Own for 13 years and later worked maintenance for Owen-Withee High School for 18 years. He was an "arm chair quarterback" encouraging the Brewers and Packers on to victory. He enjoyed deer hunting and gardening, and he was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and the Holy Rosary Choir and Polka Band.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Marge Klapatauskas, Withee; his mother-in-law, Ruth Moberg, Loyal; six children, Dawn (Michael) Luck, North Reading, Mass., David Klapatauskas, Oshkosh, Denise (David) Owens, West Allis, Jane (Lance) Kreplick, Wesley Chapel, Fla., Janet Klapatauskas, Milwaukee, and Judy Klapatauskas, West Bend; six grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Kevin, Alexis, Alyssa and Eric; two brothers, Julius Klaparauskas, Thorp, and Michael (Lorraine) Klapatauskas, Chicago; four sisters, Katie Gregorich, Greenwood, Mary Fischer, Chicago, Josie Wind, Chicago, and Agnes Debevec, Willard; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; infant daughter, Mary Theresa; three sisters, Estelle, Martha and Frances; and his father-in-law, Elery Moberg.
Maurina/Community Funeral Homes, Owen, assisted the family with arrangements.
