Bjelland, Selma Sept. 5, 1877

NEILLSVILLE WOMAN CELEBRATES AT LAKE ARBUTUS

Mrs. Selma Bjelland, Neillsville, celebrated her 90th birthday Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Lake Arbutus with relatives and friends from Neillsville and Hatfield.

Mrs. Bjelland was born in Germany, Sept. 5, 1877, and came to America that year with her parents. She grew up in North and South Dakota and attended school in Egley, N. D. She also lived in Dorchester, Hixon and Hatfield.

She was married to Henry Palms, who died in 1922, and they had five children--Harry, Hatfield; Arthur, Roscoe, Ill.: Dell, Kulm, N. D.; Mrs. Leo (Violet) Cardinal, Hatfield, and Mrs. Florence Reynolds, Minneapolis, Minn.

In 1923, she married Albert Bjelland and they operated a dairy farm in the Hixon area until 1943, when they moved to their home on 12th street in Neillsville. Mr. Bjelland died in 1959.

Mrs. Bjelland, who has enjoyed good health all of her life, still does her own housework and cooking. She is a member of the Congregational Church in Neillsville

My father was Dale Albert Iris Bjelland, son of Clara Storla and Albert Bjelland. My father was born in Oregon 2-7-20. Clara past away shortly after my father was born, and he remarried Selma.
