Wasserberger, Mary (5 Sept. 1858 - 31 Dec. 1933)

Mrs. Mary Wasserburger, a resident of the North side for the past 34 years, died suddenly at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 31 from a heart attack. Mrs. Wasserberger, who was Mary Zeller of Arcadia, was born Sept. 5, 1858. On April 24, 1883, Miss Zeller was married to Charles C. Wasserberger, the couple moving to Clark County May 1, 1883 where they took up farming. To this union were born nine children, seven of whom survive. They are Mrs. Charles Sherman, Wausau; Frank, Henry, Miss Kathryn, Mrs. Carl (Clara) Kesler, Leo, Mrs. Millard (Tillie) Chadwick, Neillsville. Charles was killed with the American Expeditionary Forces in France in 1918 and Louise died at the age of 5.

Mrs. Wasserberger was a home loving woman, devoting her life to the comfort and welfare of her family. She was beloved by her neighbors and all who knew her for her many deeds of kindness and her friendly sympathy for those in sorrow or distress. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and the Altar Society, taking an active interest in the affairs of her church.

Mrs. Wasserberger loved flowers and found unbounded pleasure working in her garden of which she was particularly proud. She spent many happy hours during the spring and summer cultivating the plot which was one of the finest in the neighborhood.

The funeral was held at St. Mary’s church at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Father Peter Weber conducting the rites. Pallbearers were Paul Skroch, Frank Reinhardt, Harry Uselding, Carl Gassen, Nolle Blau, and Elmo Barton.

Those from out of the city who were here for the funeral were Miss Kate Zeller, sister, Arcadia; Joe Zeller, brother, Neenah, and John Marx, cousin, of Arcadia.
