Whitted, Mrs. J. C. (1856 - 15 May 1934)
Mr. and Mrs. August Klann and baby, Mr. and Mrs. L. Shumway and two children, returned last week from Chippewa Falls, where they were called by the death of their mother, Mrs. J. C. Whitted, who passed away May 15 at her home near Chippewa at the age of 77 years. She was a member of the Baptist church, later she was taken into the Christian church. She was always ready to help others in time of need. She was often called upon to help a friend wash and dress a new baby, or close the eyes and fold the hands of another friend.
Mrs. Whitted has been in poor health for seven years. She is survived by her husband and five children, John and Thomas, at home, George of Bismark, N. D.; Charles and Rosalie (Mrs. Lloyd Shumway) of Neillsville, 1 son Virgil, preceded her in death some years ago. She also leaves an adopted daughter, Anna (Mrs. Aug. Klann) and 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Mason Funeral Home at Chippewa, Rev. Lawrence Omen officiating.
