Deutschlander, Leslie H. (5 Sept. 1935 - 14 May 2005)
Leslie H. Deutschlander, age 69, of Thorp passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2005, at his home. He honorably faced cancer, faithfully trusting God until the end.
He was born on Sept. 5, 1935, to Henry and Mary (Figura) Deutschlander in Thorp where he grew up and attended area schools. Les worked in Chicago until 1956. He then entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. He married Ruth Biddle on Sept. 12, 1959, at Pentecostal Assembly in Eau Claire. Since that time, they lived north of Thorp where they operated Deutschlander Motor Sales. He enjoyed his work and appreciated his many local customers.
Together, Les and Ruth raised a family of a son and three daughters. Les had a great love for his family, surpassed only by his love for God. He faithfully attended Abundant Life Pentecostal Church in Thorp. His greatest desire was to serve the Lord and to encourage others to do the same. Les is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Jeffrey (Diane) Deutschlander of Stanley, Jill (Gregory) Hoff of Thorp, Jennifer (Steven) Vorpahl of Chippewa Falls and Julie (Michael) Snow of Stanley; grandchildren, Nicole (Casey) Woodcock, Janell (David) Carroll, Kayla Hoff, Samantha Hoff, Janessa Vorpahl, Matthew Deutschlander, Sabrina Hoff and Autumn Snow; great-grandchild, Caleb Woodcock; his mother, Mary Bronson of Pinellas Park, Fla.; brothers, Roger (Joanie) Deutschlander of Chippewa Falls and John (Betty) Deutschlander of Halls, Tenn.; sister, Jackie (Charles) Pardus of LaHabra, Calif., aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; three sisters, Carol Symbal, Cheryl Deutschlander and Mariane Deutschlander.
A funeral service will be on Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Abundant Life Pentecostal Church in Thorp with Pastor John Sindler officiating. Friends May call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Thorp Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday at the church.
Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
