MRS. HARRIET PETERSON June 15, 1898-April 15, 1982
Neillsville--Mrs. Harriet E. Peterson, 83, formerly of Neillsville, died Thursday at Black River Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of Pine View Nursing Home in Black River Falls for the past 10 months.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary L. Clark, pastor of the United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Friends May call from 5-9 p.m. today and until time of services Saturday at the funeral home, where there will be Eastern Star rites at 8:15 tonight.
The former Harriet E.(Evelyn) Leiput was born June 15, 1898, at Unity to Mr. and Mrs. William (Amelia Braatz) Leiput and received her education there. She was married to John M. Peterson, July 6, 1919, at Detroit. He died Oct. 16, 1964.
They farmed in the Unity area until Mr. Peterson entered law school. They then lived in Madison until he received his law degree. They moved to Owen and later to Neillsville, where Mr. Peterson practiced law. Mrs. Peterson owned and operated Harriet's Tog and Bridal Shop here for many years and was active in a number of organizations, including Carmi Chapter 60 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Shirley) Coyier, Corvallis, Ore., and Mrs. Hans (Donna Rae) Harder, route 1, Greenwood; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Firmstahl, Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Alma Scheel, Marshfield; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters.
