The news of his death came as a shock to his many friends and relatives, few of whom were aware of the serious nature of his ailment.

John G. Fisher was the son of the late John Fisher, Sr. (who died Sept. 26, 1929) and Augustina (Siegfried) Fisher who located a farm and settled down in the town of Sherman shortly after their marriage in Sheboygan County in 1877.
Oct. 25, 1905 he was united in marriage to Hulda Hildebrandt of Spencer, Wis., the ceremony taking place in Trinity Lutheran Church of Spencer. The Silver Wedding last fall was made the occasion for a community celebration. One of their six children preceded the father May 2, 1921 at the age of ten years.
John Gottlieb Fisher was born April 2, 1879, in the town of Sherman, Clark County, Wis. He attended District School No. 8 in the community of his birth and assisted on the home farm until he was 22, when he embarked in farming on his own land in the same township, near Veefkind, and in connection with his farming did custom fuel wood sawing four winters. Then he established a saw mill and feed mill at Veefkind which he operated up to 1922, when these industries were discontinued. In addition to lumber and feed, he manufactured lath and shingles. Since the mills were shut down he has confined his attention wholly to his farm, and community affairs. His farm comprises 84 acres, fully equipped with buildings, machinery, livestock and otherwise.
At the time of his death he was assessor of the town of Sherman, which office he has served 7 years and Treasurer of the school district No. 8 which he served 3 years. His father., deceased, has a record of 50 years of service as clerk of this same school district and 18 years of service as assessor of the same township. He was also director and treasurer of the Big Four Co-operative Oil Company of Spencer, and a director of the Lynn Mutual Fire and Cyclone Insurance Companies.

We have lost our dear one.
He has bid us a last adieu,
He has gone to live in heaven
And his form is lost to view,
Heaven now retains our treasure
Earth the barren casket keeps,
A lonely heart will ever linger, When our dear one sleeps.
No one knows the silent heartache
Only those who have lost can tell
Of grief that is borne in silence
For the one we love so well,
Sadly missed by his wife and children.
