Schabel, Janine Marie (7 July 1954 - 12 April 2005)

Janine Marie Schabel, precious wife and loving mother, proud grandmother, beloved sister and praying friend, moved to her mansion in the sky April 12, 2005, surrounded by her family.

Janine Kramer was born July 7, 1954, in Thorp, Wis., to Myron ‘Mike’ and Marie Carpenter Kramer. Janine graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, Wis., in 1972.

Janine was joined in marriage to Thomas J. Schabel on June 12, 1976, in Fond du Lac.

They moved to Alexandria, Minn., in 1987, and purchased Alexandria Extrusion Company. Janine raised two sons, Joseph and Stephen.

Janine started Career Day and Smart Choice Day in the Alexandria School District. She was instrumental in revitalizing Women’s Aglow in Alexandria and was the central Minnesota area president for Women’s Aglow. Janine volunteered at area nursing homes, and she led and attended numerous Bible studies and prayer groups. Janine lived to be a blessing.

Janine loved to travel and visited Europe, Scandinavia, Asia and Israel in addition to seeing many places in the U.S. with family and friends.

Janine is survived by her loving husband, Tom of Alexandria, Minn.; her two sons, Joseph (Nicole Nelson) of Fargo, N.D. and Stephen (Jessi Duits) of Alexandria, Minn.; and her grandchildren, Colton, Sonja, Landon and Erik Schabel. Tom and Janine also had nine foster children.

She is also survived by her mother, Marie Kramer; her sisters, Susan (James) Wimberger of Fond du Lac, Elise (Gregg) Sippel of Mount Calvary and Ann (John) Giese of Fond du Lac; her brothers, Michael (Barb) Kramer of Ogden, Iowa, Gregory (Colleen) Kramer of Fond du Lac, Thomas (Barb) Kramer of Manitowish Waters, Paul (Julie) Kramer of Spencer, Wis., and Charles Kramer of Manitowish Waters; 27 nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews; her special friends; and the many lives she touched.

Services: A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2005, at St. Mary’s Church (4th & Hawthorne) in Alexandria. The Rev. Mike Bartolomeo of the Church for the Harvest will officiate. Interment will follow at the Kinkead Cemetery.

Visitation: Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2005, at the church with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Monday, April 18, at church. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Church for the Harvest Growth Fund, 2306 S. Broadway, Suite 7, Alexandria, Minn. 56308. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria, Minn.
