Shefchik, Margaret (1860 - 4 May 1931)

Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Shefchik were held in the Catholic Church here Thursday forenoon May 9th at 9:30 o’clock. The deceased passed away Monday, May 4th following a heart attack. She had been ill about two weeks. Mrs. Frank Shefchik, nee Margaret Seidenglanz, was born in 1860 in Bohemia. When seven years old she came to Wisconsin with her parents who settled in Kewaunee county. There she grew to womanhood and was married I 1879 to her surviving husband. They engaged in farming in Kewaunee county until 21 years ago when they came to this community and engaged in farming in the Town of Beaver.

The deceased with her husband lived on the Shefchik farm up to the time of her death. On Nov. 19th, 1929 they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. The Rev. A. Aurit officiated at the funeral services. Her five sons and one son-in-law, Frank Kudow of Milwaukee were all pall bearers. Interment took place in St. Balthazar’s cemetery.

Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Shefchik. A daughter, Barbara, preceded her mother in death about two and one-half years ago. Besides her husband Frank Shefchik the deceased leaves ten children, 34 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and other relatives.

The surviving children are: Kate, Mrs. Frank Kadow, Milwaukee, (an invalid the past 10 years and unable to attend the funeral); Anna, Mrs. Matt Kvitek, Manitowoc; Rose, Mrs. Thos. Kunesh, Strangeville; Frank Shefchik, Milwaukee; Albert Shefchik, Hartford; Sr. M. Leomitis, Milwaukee; Joseph, Charles, Emil, and Caroline, Mrs. William Bauer all of Loyal. All were present at the funeral excepting Mrs. Frank Kadow.

Among those attending the funeral were Mr. Frank Kadow and Eleanor Kadow of Milwaukee; Mrs. F. Shefchik of Milwaukee; Mrs. Albert Shefchik of Hartford; Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Marcott, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Daniels; Mr. and Mrs. P. Goemans, Mr. and Mrs. H. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. E. Hahn; and Mrs. J. Lee all of De Pere; Mr. and Mrs. J. Deman of Salk City; Mr. and Mrs. J. Hibard of Manitowoc; Mr. and Mrs. M. Shefchik, Adolph Shefchik, Alois Shefchik, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Riha; Joe Riha, Sr., Frank Riha, Mr. and Mrs. F. Bauer, all of Kewaunee.

The deceased was affiliated with the Altar Society, members of which also were present at her funeral.
