Moseley, Fredric W. "Fred" (July 24, 1945 - June 18, 2005)
OSSEO, Wis. - Fredric W. "Fred" Moseley, 59, of Osseo, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2005, at the Fairview-University Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn., after an exceptionally courageous battle with respiratory failure due to complications from pneumonia.
Fred was born July 24, 1945, in Black River Falls, to Robert and Verna (Toxen) Moseley of Melrose. In 1947, the family moved to Garden Valley, rural Hixton, where they continued dairying with their registered Guernsey herd. He graduated from Alma Center Lincoln High School in 1963.
Fred was very active showing their Guernseys and judging dairy cattle in 4-H and FFA throughout high school. He earned an FFA American Farmer degree and attended the UW-Madison Dairy/Ag Short Course. He farmed with his parents until he took over in 1972. In 1992, Fred discontinued dairying and began hauling for Croell Redi-Mix of Black River Falls.
He married Linda Giese, a veterinarian with the Osseo Veterinary Clinic, on Oct. 26, 1996, and moved to Osseo where they operated a small farm and raised registered Polled Herefords.
Fred served as past president of the Wisconsin State Guernsey Association and the Alma Center Lions Club. He previously was a hunter safety instructor and a member of the North Branch Rod and Gun Club.
Fred greatly enjoyed visiting with his many friends and family. His favorite topics included John Deere machinery, the Green Bay Packers and hunting. Special times for him included deer hunting with family and friends, fishing and elk hunting in Colorado.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, and children Rachel and Kaden; his mother, Verna Moseley of Alma Center; his brother, Robert (Nancy) Moseley of Greenwood; his sister, Sandy (Don) Fraser of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one aunt, Lila Johnson of Black River Falls; besides many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Moseley Sr.
Fred was an upbeat, hardworking, friendly guy and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services for Fredric W. "Fred" Moseley will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at the Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church, Osseo, with Intern Pastor Karen Hofstad officiating.
