My name is Denise Mundt. My Great-Grandfather, Ervin H. Witt, was a Clark County Wisconsin Cheesemaker. Grandpa Ervin’s name is incorrectly spelled in all of the instances where his name is listed on the Clark County Historical website. His first name is spelled with a V - not a W.

I have emailed Janet Schwarze several times to no avail. Perhaps one of you can help?

Grandpa Ervin was truly a wonderful man, and his family would be forever grateful that Grandpa Ervin is honored correctly on your website.

Thank you very much for your help.

*Thanks for contacting us.  Our transcribers don't alter the names provided by the newspapers, federal records and historical documents and Crystal correctly followed that policy.  I did add the spelling variation to this article and also the Cheese makers list and hope that will help your family locate the recorded information.  I also verified that Charles F. Witt, buried in Appleton, WI, does have the "Witt" spelling on his tombstone.  Janet Schwarze
