Woody, Thomas (? - AUG 1930)

Thomas Woody was found dead on the floor of his home west of the Thorp Dairy Company’s plant on Thursday evening last. His continued absence on the street for several days was noted by neighbors who notified village officials and village president, Frank Broeren, and village marshal, C. E. Burss, visited the premises and found him dead as stated. A jury and physician were summoned who found that death had evidently taken place on Monday as a result of heart disease. The body was taken to the John G. Bogumill undertaking rooms and prepared for burial.

Deceased’s step-son, Charles Howard of Minneapolis, the only known relative, was notified and he arrived here on Friday morning and the funeral took place in the afternoon, Rev. Blish of Stanley officiating, interment following the services in the village cemetery (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.).

Mr. Woody was born in Poland and came here many years ago, residing on a farm for several years. His wife became ill and died at the county asylum four years ago.

Upon examination of his personal effects, the sum of $2, 487. 75 in currency was found in an old trunk, which was deposited in the People’s State Bank for future disbursement to the heirs by R. G. Lawrence, administrator of the estate.
