Wolf, Charles W. (10 JUN 1881 - 10 OCT 1930)

Charles W. Wolf, a resident of Thorp, Clark Co., Wis. for the past twenty-six years, died at his home here at an early hour on Friday morning, Oct. 10, 1930. Mr. Wolf retired shortly after 12 a.m. and about five o’clock Mrs. Wolf awoke and found him unconscious and gasping for breath. She immediately called Dr. A. H. Kulig, a nearby neighbor, who announced that death had already taken place. Heart failure, as a result of an anemic condition from which he had suffered for nearly two years past, was the immediate cause of death.

Deceased was born at Green leaf, Brown Co., Wis., June 10, 1881. After finishing his oridinary school studies at the age of 14 he took a course in pharmacy and has been connected with the drug business ever since.

In 1900 he became proprietor of a drug store at Wrightstown where he carried on business for six years. On Aug. 7, 1906, he moved to Thorp, Purchasing the drug store from Dr. W. R. McCutcheon which business he has carried on since. In 1909 he was elected to serve as trustee on the village board and in 1917 was elected president of the board, serving as such for the succeeding ten years, during which time a number of projects for the improvement of conditions of general welfare were carried out in all of which he assumed a leadership and served the village in a highly satisfactory manner.

He was the present secretary of the school board and had served as such for the past eighteen years.

Deceased was united in marriage to Miss Marie DeBooth on May 31, 1904, who with one son, Gordon, one brother, George Wolf of Johnson’s Creek, Wis., and one sister, Mrs. Herman Stein of Bay City, Mich., survive.

On Saturday afternoon short services were held at the home by Father Muckerheide.

The body of the deceased was taken to Wrightstown on Sunday morning last by undertaker John G. Bogumill and funeral services were held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the afternoon, interment following the services in the family lot in the nearby cemetery. The pallbearers were R. G. Lawrence, Albert Childs, R. J. Brunner, Geo. Zillmann, Dr. C. K. Dittmer and D. D. Stookey.

Manicki, Joseph Schmittfranz, Jack Borowick, Leon Bogumill, Louis Gruszynski, Joseph Decker, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Crowley, Miss LaMarche. Former residents present were Mrs. F. D. Jackey of Chicago, Cyrus Thieme and wife of S. Milwaukee, Erling Frostad and wife and daughter Gayle of Seymour, Wis., and Sam Christianson and son Oscar of Gillette, Wis.
