Wagener, Peter (Jul 1864 - 10 NOV 1930)
Peter Wagener, one of the leading citizens of the town of Thorp, Clark Co., Wis., died at his home on the Town Line early Friday evening after an illness of about four months. The funeral was held at St. Ann’s Church in Stanley, Monday at 9 a.m., interment following in the Stanley Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Wagener was born near Dubuque, Iowa, sixty-six years ago last July. He was married to Miss Susan Freres in 1910. They came here about 15 years ago and purchased the old Vincent Girard homestead which has since been their home. Deceased is survived by his widow and six sons, Joseph of Ft. Riley, Kansas, Jerome of St. Nazians, Wis., and Vincent, Marcellus, Anthony and John at home. Also his aged mother, five sisters and three brothers in Iowa.
Among those from away who came to attend the funeral were: Rev. John Wagener of Cresco, Iowa, Rev. Alfred Wagener of Pocahontas, Iowa, Jerome Wagener of St. Nazians, Wis., and Henry Vanderwyst and family of St. Paul, Minn.
A telegram received from Ft. Riley, Kansas, Monday morning announced that Joseph Wagener was coming by airplane to attend his father’s funeral.
