Haas, John (4 APR 1865 - 29 Dec 1931)

John Haas, well known retired farmer, died Tuesday evening, December 29, 1931 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Wisconsin, after a brief illness. The cause of his death was peritonitis.

Mr., Haas was born April 4, 1865 at Jefferson, Wisconsin. In the year of 1892 he married Anna Wedl, making their home on a farm near Mozomanic, Wis. To this union was born Alfred, Lucille (deceased 1919) Bernetta and Raphael.

In the spring of 1909 he and his family moved to Loyal, Wis. He purchased a section of wild land of G. W. Allen. He was able to with the willing help of his family to build up one of the finest farms in Clark County.

Eight years ago he moved to the village where he resided until his death.

Mr. Haas was a faithful member of the Holy Name Society and of the Knights of Columbus. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, one daughter, two sons, and four grandchildren

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9:00 o’clock in St Balthasars Church, Rev.A. J. Aurit officiating. He was put to rest in the local Catholic cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. Mary Haas, Leo and Jos. Haas, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lamberty, Mrs. John Kuchten, Mr. Norbert Haas, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Haas, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Blum and son, Mrs. Oscar Hornung, Mrs. B. Welsh of Prairie du Sac, Wis., Herbert Wedl, Mrs. J. Scheckelman, Mrs. Ed. Hennen, Mr. Fred Wedl of Jefferson, Wis., Miss Lucinda Wedl of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Veronica Neis and son of Baraboo, Wis., and Mrs. Robert Strathman of Colby, Wis.
