Elstrom, Verna (6 Sept. 1903 - 11 Dec. 1967)

Funeral services are being held today, December 14, for Verna Elstrom, 64, Colby, at Zion Lutheran Church at Colby.

Mrs. Elstrom died at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, following a lingering illness.

The Rev. David Pankow will officiate at the services, and burial will be made in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby.

The former Verna Frome was born in the town of Colby on September 6, 1903. She attended the Cloverdale School in the town of Colby, and Zion Lutheran parochial school, where she was confirmed.

Her marriage to Carl Elstrom took place December 4, 1923, at the Zion Lutheran parsonage. The couple farmed in the town of Colby until 1950 when they moved to Bristol. In 1963, they returned to Colby, where they have lived since.

Mrs. Elstrom was a member of the Colby VFW Auxiliary and the OAO Homemakers for many years. She belonged to the Zion Lutheran congregation, and was a member of the Sewing Circle.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, Lee Elstrom of West Chicago, Ill.; and two daughters, Mrs. Dalles (Doris) Seboe of Horicon and Mrs. Hubert (Shirley) Witte of Colby; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Frome of Colby, and 17 grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Joe (Norma) School of Sussex and three brothers, Fred Frome of Little Marais, Minn., Willard Frome of Marshfield and Wesley Frome of Colby.

She was preceded in death by four grandchildren.
