(22 Augl 1820 - 15 Jan 1889) Died, at his
residence in this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), Monday morning,
Jan. 15th, 1889, Mr. Martin Schultz in the 69th years of his
age. Martin Schultz was
born in Germany, Aug. 22nd, 1820, and came to this country March
12th, 1854, and settled in Sheboygan Co., Wis. He came to Colby
about eight years ago, and since his residence here has made many
friends; he was quiet and unassuming in his manners, industrious
and frugal in his habits. He leaves a wife,
one son and three daughters, all grown up, to mourn his sudden
death. Oct. 18th, 1864,
he enlisted as a substitute, and was assigned to Co. B. 6th
Reg’t Wis. Inf., he was taken prisoner at Gravelly Run, Va.,
and was honorably discharge May 26th, 1865. The funeral
occurred Tuesday, under the auspices of the G. A. R. at the
Lutheran Church, Rev. Fr. Otto officiating, the G. A. R. taking
charge of the ceremony at the cemetery.
