(28 OCT 1816 - 9 JUN 1890) Died, at his home
in this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), on Monday, June 9th,
1890, of heart failure incident to old age, Vincent Stepan, in the
74th year of his age. Vincent Stepan was
born in Slavetin, Bohemia, Oct. 28th, 1816. In 1860 he came to this
country with his family and settled in Kewaunee, this state. In
1876 he removed to Colby, Clark Co. where he has since resided,
highly respected by all who know him. Mr. Stepan was a very quiet
and unassuming man, attending strictly to his own business. He was
a musician of more than ordinary merit, and has given piano
instructions to many in this place, Spencer, Marshfield,
Neillsville and other places in this vicinity. In August 1837, he
was married to the wife who survives him. This union was blessed
with six children, two sons and four daughters, all of whom live to
mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. Two daughters live
in Kewaunee, two daughters and one son live at Chadron, Neb., and
Rudolph, the youngest son, resides at Bessemer, Mich.; besides
these there are 23 grandchildren. The remains were taken to
Kewaunee Tuesday evening for interment, accompanied by Rudolph.
