Leitl, Mathias (6 JAN 1822 - 13 Sep 1890)

Died, at his home in the town of Hull, Marathon Co., Wis., Saturday morning, Sept. 13th, 1890, of general debility, Mathias Leitl, in the 69th year of his age.

Mr. Leitl was born Jan. 6th, 1822, at Osterhofen, Bavaria. He came to America in the early part of 1855 and settled at Beaver Dam, in this state, about the first of March, and on April 15th, was united in marriage with Miss Mary Haglsperger, who survives him. In the fall of 1879, he, with his family, removed to this place and settled on a farm about four miles east of the this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.). He was the father of eleven children, nine of whom survive him and mourn the loss of a loving father, and are John of Colby; Joseph of Bladder Lake; Mrs. Frank Provinske, Mrs. Aug. Gripentrog, George and Miss Lanie Leitl, of Bessemer, Mich., Paul and Jacob of Colby.

Mr. Leitl was an industrious and honest man, and was esteemed as such by all his neighbors.

The funeral occurred at St. Killian’s Church, Sunday, Rev. A. J. Joerres officiating, and the remains interred in the Catholic Cemetery. The sorrowing wife and children receive the sympathies of a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
