Witt, Harvey William Sr. (24 April 1906 - 24 May 1995)

Harvey William Witt, Sr., 89, Abbotsford, Wisconsin, died on May 24, 1995 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services were held May 27 at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Jack Nickolay extended the eulogy. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Curtiss.

Harvey Witt, Sr. was born on April 24, 1906 in the Town of Beaver, Clark County, the son of Fredrick and Alvina (Knaack) Witt. He and the former Irene Olive Fahrenbach were united in marriage on Aug. 25, 1934 in Waukegan, Ill. Irene died on Feb. 25, 1990.

They farmed in the Town of Beaver until 1946. They then moved to Curtiss where they owned and operated Witt General Store until 1948. In 1977 they resided in Abbotsford. Harvey had worked for many years for Galvin Tractor of Abbotsford until retirement. He was a member of the Farmers Union and the U. S. Farmers Association.

Survivors include one son, Harvey, (Ruth) Witt, Jr. of Abbotsford; one daughter Jean Hamm of Plymouth; one sister, Hilda Laufenberg of Davenport, Iowa, and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, Elda Lebeck and Edna Degner, and four brothers, Fred, William and Elmer and Jack Witt.

Pallbearers were Harlan Witt, Harold Hardrath, Herbert Fahrenbach, Orville Lieders, Irv Primeau, and Harry Klempke.

Honorary pallbearers were Gertrude Becker, Gertrude Rohland, Kathy Primeau and Olive Siikarla.
