PURPLE HEART AWARDED MAN KILLED IN ACTION

Pvt. Ralph E. Duvall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Duvall, Granton, route 2, has been awarded the Purple Heart medal posthumously, according to work received by his parents.

Pvt. Duvall was killed in the European theater of war, July 24, 1944. A subsequent telegram to his parents revealed that he was killed in action in France on that date.

He was inducted into the Army March 7, 1943, and went overseas in May, 1944.

The day before he met death, Pvt. Duvall wrote a letter from France to his parents.
