Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 09/22/1892 Firnstahl, Michael
(23 Sep 1822 - 20 Sep 1892) Died, at the
residence of his son Paul in the town of Hull, Marathon Co., Wis.,
on Tuesday, Sep 20th, 1892, Michael Firnstahl, aged 70 years. Michael Firnstahl
was born in Austria, Sept. 23rd, 1822, and had he lived until
tomorrow would have been 70 years old. He came to America with his
family in May 1875, and located at Stevens Point, remained there
about a month and then he came to Colby and has resided here ever
since, greatly respected by all who knew him. He was a man of a
rather retiring disposition, did not mingle with the general
populace, hence, notwithstanding his long residence, his
acquaintance was not large outside of members of his own church. He
was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, where his funeral
occurred today, and was attended by a large concourse, and a long
procession escorted the remains to the Catholic Cemetery,
notwithstanding the rain. Rev. Father Schaller of Chippewa Falls
conducted the funeral.
