COLBY, WIS. - Harley Louis Hardrath, 75, Colby, Wisconsin, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 1996, at his apartment in Colby.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 1996, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Colby. The Rev. DuWayne Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday at Maurina Funeral Home in Owen. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family will also greet friends on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Hardrath was born Sept. 21, 1920, in the town of Green Grove, the son of Louis and Lula (Scheel) Hardrath. He attended the Bright School. As a young man he enjoyed playing softball and had received many trophies.
Harley and the former Eileen Sommer were united in marriage on Dec. 5, 1939, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Colby. Eileen died on April 28, 1996.
Harley farmed all his life in the town of Green Grove. He was the accessor for the town of Green Grove for many years and was a member of the Black River Sportsman Club in Withee. He was on the church council of St. Paul’s Church where he held many offices.
He had resided in Colby since June 1 of this year. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and in his quiet times enjoyed Western books and movies.
He is survived by four daughters, Sandra (Larry) Fritz of Owen, Susie (Phillip) Roebuck of Port Neches, Texas; Sally (Jerome) Weiler of Owen, Sheryl (Harold) Snortheim of Eau Claire; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dick (Doris) Hardrath of Sonora, Calif., and Addie (Ethel) Hardrath of Idaho Falls; and a sister, Inez Alexander of Marinette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two grandsons.
The family will sadly miss their loving father and grandfather.
They would like to extend a special thanks to his doctor, Dr. Bol De Greve of the Oncology Department of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
