Auto accident claims Struensee Funeral services were held Monday early afternoon, September 15, 1980, for Richard W. Struensee, 43, of R. 1 Neillsville, who was killed in a traffic accident on Sept.11, 1980 (details of the accident are carried elsewhere in this issue of the Press).
The deceased was born on June 3, 1937, in the town of Grant to Joseph W. and Mildred (Strebing) Struensee. He received his education in Town of Grant and Neillsville Schools. On September 12, 1959, he married Erdine Oldham in Neillsville ceremonies.
Struensee first worked for Ellis and Volz Cranberry Company in City Point and then worked for American Motors in Kenosha for 6 years. He then returned to Neillsville where he worked for Tesmer Construction for 5 years. For the past several years, he was an employee of Ruzic Construction of Neillsville.
Surviving him, besides his wife, are three sons, Michael of Neillsville, Mark and Timothy, both at home; and three daughters, Mrs. Darell (Donna) Degnitz of Neillsville, Mrs. Terry (Nancy) Zschernitz, Fairchild and Julie Struensee at home; his father, Joseph Struensee; three sisters, Mrs. John (Shirley) Bryan of Chicago, Mrs. Ronald (Alice) Zelasko of Glenn View, Ill.; and Mrs. Robert (Carol) Sparks of Milwaukee; five brothers, Warren, Dale, Robert, and Darrel, all of Neillsville, and Floyd of Greenwood; and two grandchildren. Also surviving the deceased are his stepmother, Evelyn Struensee and three stepbrothers, Jerome Schroeder of Great Lakes, Ill., Harvey Schroeder of Nekoosa and Don Schroeder of Kenosha and one stepsister, Mrs. Ervin (Geraldine) Flegner of Menomonie Falls.
Preceding Richard in death are his mother and one stepbrother, James Schroeder.
The Rev. William Noble of the Neillsville United Methodist Church officiated at the Gesche Funeral Home with burial made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Turner, Gordon Zickert, Merlyn Lindow, Hank Knoll, Duane Peterson and Dennis Kuechenmeister. Deon Spangler offered the special music.
Attending the service from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Zelasko and family, Glenview, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. John Bryan and family, West Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sparks, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Schroeder, Nekoosa; Mr. and Mrs. LaFayette Oldham, Helena, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schroeder, Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Schroeder, Great Lakes, Ill.; Geraldine Flegner, Menomonee Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Volz, City Point; and Bruce and David Brecht, both of the Owen-Withee area. Joining them were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Polzin, Racine; Gala Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Oldham and Family, Bonifay, Flordia; Bill Diltu, Fond du Lac; Dean Zickert, Minneapolis; Blanche and Warren Lebeck and Earl Finch all of Cicero, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Struensee and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Boon Greenwood; Arlene Anderson, Spencer; Esther Ebert, Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Gall and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Grancorvitz, all of Marshfield; Amanda Wampole, Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Heath, Osseo; Barbara Richmond, Philip Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zais , all of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Max Bergen, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Al Degnitz, Spencer; and many from the Neillsville and Granton area.
