County Republican & Press (Neillsville, Wis.) 12/31/1914 Bradbury, Sarah A.
(23 May 1832 - 15 Dec 1914) Mrs. Sarah A.
Bradbury, mother of Dr. E.L. Bradbury of this city (Neillsville,
Clark Co.) and well known here, died at her home in Hixton, Dec.
15, 1914, her death being caused by accidental burning. She was
alone in the house preparing dinner, her daughter who lived with
her having just stepped out of the house to feed the chickens. In
some way her clothing took fire and she was so badly burned that
she died that evening at five o’clock. Mrs. Bradbury was
born in England May 23, 1832. She was married there to Simeon
Bradbury and soon after their marriage they came to America,
locating at Bedford, Mass. In 1878, they moved to Hixton, Jackson
Co., Wis. and located on a farm. Mr. Bradbury died in 1902. She was
a woman of sterling qualities, possessed of the old time virtues
that made for comfort and welfare of the family. While living here
she made a number of close friends who learned of her death with
deep sorrow. She leaves to sons, Dr. E.L. Bradbury of Neillsville
and J.H. Bradbury of Fond du Lac, and one daughter, Mary, who was
with her at home. Burial took place at Sechlerville on Thursday,
Dec. 17.
