County Republican & Press (Neillsville, Wis.) 05/06/1915 Oldham, Sarah A.
(16 Apr 1836 - 26 Apr 1915) Sarah Ann Ford was
born in Hyde Cheshire, England in the year 1836, where she resided
until 1860, when she was married to Aaron Oldham of Glossop,
England, on May 20, and set sail for America May 23rd, landing at
Montreal, where they lived for 5 years. A few years later they
moved to Racine, Wis., where they spent about 2 years before
settling on a pioneer farm south of Neillsville, Clark County.
There they lived for about 36 years. Becoming unable to carry on
the farm, they sold it. Then they went to live with their son,
Joseph Oldham, until 1902, when Mr. Oldham died. Since that time
Mrs. Oldham has spent her time with her children, the last two
years being with the children in Washington, where she died April
26th, at the age of 79 years and 10 days. She was brought back to
Neillsville for interment in the family lot in the town of
Levis. She leaves 6
children, Mrs. A.F. Raether of Milwaukee; Mrs. E. Raether and
Charles of Centralia, Wash.; Joseph of Cottonwood, Idaho; William
and Alfred of Neillsville, also 21 grandchildren and 7
great-grandchildren. Mrs. Oldham was a
woman of the rarest of good qualities, giving her home and her
family the best and kindest of motherly care; helping while her
health and strength permitted wherever a friend and neighbor was
needed.
