County Republican & Press (Neillsville, Wis.) 11/25/1915 McTaggart, Mina
(1843 - 16 NOV 1915) Mrs. Mina
McTaggart died at Marshfield Nov. 16, 1915, and was brought here
for burial, the funeral taking place Thursday at the Presbyterian
Church, Rev. S.B. Pinney preaching the funeral sermon. Deceased was born
at St. George’s, Canada in 1843, being the daughter of Robert
and Mary Maines. She came to Clark County with her parents in 1854.
In 1858 she was married to Louis Rivers. Mr. Rivers built the first
house in Marshfield and his wife was the first white woman to live
there. To them were born two daughters, Della and Cloie, both
deceased. In 1884 she was
married to Durlin McTaggart, who survives her. Mrs. McTaggart was
one of the worthy pioneer women of this locality. The memory of
such as she who toiled upon the foundation of our civilization here
should be honored. She led a good Christian life, although her
infirmities prevented her from attending church services during
some years of her life. She was laid at
rest in Neillsville Cemetery beside her daughter Della.
