Griffith died at the home of her son, E.J. Griffith, at 12:10
o’clock Sunday morning, aged 75 years, 5 months and 28 days.
Deceased, whose maiden name was Elizabeth C. Jones, was born at
Liverpool, Eng., July 11, 1839. She came with her parents to
America when she was eight years of age. They located at Sheboygan
Falls and remained for ten years, then moved to Fond du Lac, which
became their permanent home. She was married to John D. Griffith in
1861. Her husband died in June 1900, and since then she has made
her home with her son, E.J. Griffith and family. Besides him she
leaves to mourn her death three other sons: J.H. Griffith of
Oshkosh; W.G. Griffith of Carrington, N.D.; and T.A. Griffith of
Oklahoma City, Okla. She leaves also 13 grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren. She was a woman of
high Christian character, and in the years of her strength was a
helpful worker in the church. She was a faithful member of the M.E.
Church from childhood. She was a devoted wife and a wise and loving
mother. Her last words were "It pays to be ready." Brief funeral
services were held Monday at the home, Rev. L.B. Colman
officiating, and he accompanied the family, who went with the
remains to Rosendale, Wis., where funeral services were held
Tuesday. Interment took place in the family lot beside her husband.
