County Republican & Press (Neillsville, Wis.) 04/20/1916 Chorlton, John (?
- 10 Mar 1916) A newspaper
clipping of the Manchester, Eng., City News of March 25, 1916,
conveyed to friends here (Neillsville, Clark County) the news of
the death of Mr. John Chorlton of that city on March 10, 1916. Mr.
Chorlton was a brother-in-law of the late Joseph Morley of this
city, and through Mr. Morley met a good many people from this
locality who visited England. Among those who visited him at his
home in Manchester were Judge Jas. O’Neill, his daughter,
Mrs. F.D. Calway, R.J. McBride and Jesse Lowe. He was a prominent
business man and widely known for his church and Sunday school
work. He was a deacon in the Rusholme Congregational Church for
over forty years, a worker in Saville St. Sunday school for
fifty-seven years, being its superintendent forty-seven years. Of
him it was said: "He fought the good fight" and his is a well
earned rest.
