Phillips, Louisa (20 May 1851 - 18 JUN 1916)

Louisa Raether was born in Milwaukee May 20, 1851 and died at her home near Humbird, Clark Co., Wis. on June 18, 1916.

On Nov. 26, 1870 she was united in marriage to Mr. Leander Phillips at Oconomowoc, Wis. To them were born 9 children, 5 sons and 4 daughters: George, Ernest, Clarence and Charles of Humbird and Wm. Of Eau Claire; Mrs. Carried Woodford of Humbird, Mrs. Ella Herrian of Neillsville, Mrs. Nina Eldridge of Montana, Mrs. Della Junghans of Ft. Atkinson.

Mrs. Phillips has lived for the past forty years in Clark County and most of the time within the vicinity of Humbird. Being the mother of nine children in the very nature of the case she has lived a strenuous life. She has been an industrious, hard working woman, a faithful wife, and a devoted mother and enjoyed the respect and good will of her neighbors. She was sick only a few days just prior to her death. She is survived by her husband and all her children, also by 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Otto and Edward live in Washington State, Barnard in Montana, Frank in Neillsville and Albert in Milwaukee, the last two were present at the funeral. Of the three sisters, Mrs. Matthew lives in California, Mrs. Frances Back in Oklahoma and Mrs. Geo. Stores in Humbird.

The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Humbird by the pastor, Rev. H.W. Wieberbee, who preached from Luke 23:43.

There was a large attendance of old friends and neighbors who join in extending their sympathy to the bereaved family.
