The Bass Store was located in the area that is now use by Bowen hardware for warehouse and bulk tank storage Albert Bass sold the store to Hildeman and Lacy. Then it became the Dahlberg Store. About 1916, Albert Laabs purchased the property and operated a saloon and barber shop. An excerpt from the abstract reads: "This conveyance includes all buildings, etc.-- one heater, one cash register, six chairs, two card tables, lights, pool table, and ice in the ice house. “Possession to be given in thirty days." The entry is dated April, 1918, when Albert Laabs sold to Louis Schroeder.

In 1919, Herman Cornelius built a garage in this area to the north.
