John Botey Kaudy was the son of Mathias Kaudy, Sr. He was born 1861 in Neosho, and moved to Colby, Wisconsin in1878. In 1900, he served as City Marshall of that village and later, as Sheriff of Clark County. He died August 16, 1920 and was buried in the Weston East Cemetery (now known as Chapel Hill) near Christie, Wisconsin. His grave was dug next to his father, who had died just four years earlier.
