(11 OCT 1824 - 12 Jan 1909) Mrs. Hannah J.
Otis died at the home of her brother, M. L. Jenkins of the town of
Eaton, Clark County, Wis., Tuesday, Jan 12th, 1909. The deceased
was 85 years old, a widow. She has been an invalid and confined to
her bed for a number of years. The funeral will take place Friday
at the house at 12:30, burial to be in the Greenwood Cemetery. (Follow on in
Greenwood Gleaner of 1/21/1909) The death of Mrs.
Hannah J. Otis of whom we made a mention last week was born in
Jefferson County, N.Y., Oct. 1824, and came to Wisconsin in 1853
with her father and his family. They settled in Calumet County,
where she was married and lived until the year 1900, when she came
to Clark County, Wis. with her brother, M. L. Jenkins, with whom
she has lived until her death. Mrs. Otis had been
a widow for thirteen years and an invalid for nearly twelve, having
been confined to her bed a greater part of that time. She was a
member of the Baptist Church, having been converted when about
twenty years of age, and has since remained faithful to her
heavenly Master and died in the faith. Deceased was eight
five years of age and leaves as mourners, two brothers and one
sister. Rev. Sweet
conducted the funeral service at the house last Friday afternoon.
The remains were placed to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.
