GREENWOOD GLEANER (Greenwood, Wis.) 09/08/1910 Soefker, August (?
- 28 Augl 1910) August Soefker, so
of Mrs. Frederick Soefker, of the West Side, died at his home
Sunday, Aug. 28, 1910 at 5 p.m. from the effects of sugar diabetes.
Two years ago his health began failing him and since that time he
has gradually faded away. Until three days of death he was up and
around the farm. His was the soul
of honor and his friends and friendships were sacred to him. It is sad at any
time to stand beside the bed of the dying and watch life’s
ebbing tide drifting the loved one slowly, perhaps, but surely into
the great ocean of eternity, but when there comes whispering from
parched lips, "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of
death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy
staff they comfort me," it brings a balm to the wounded heart. The funeral took
place Wednesday Aug. 31 in the German Reformed Church of the west
Side, and was conducted by Rev. Otto Saewert. The floral
tributes offered by his many young friends were very beautiful and
numerous. Deceased was the
last of six sons to depart from this world and enter that of a
brighter purer one. His father preceded him six months ago. To his broke
hearted mother and sisters who sit in sorrow where his footsteps
shall never again find echo, we extend the most sincere sympathy.
