MELZER ----Source:
GREENWOOD GLEANER (Greenwood, Wis.) 05/31/1906 Melzer, Frank (6
AUG 1877 - 19 May 1906) It was almost
exactly seven months after the death of his sister Mae that Frank
Melzer, whose death was mentioned last week, occurred. Within a
couple of months after her decease he was obliged to give up his
work in the round house and from that time to his death gradually
grew worse, though he himself kept up hope to the last that he
would soon be well again. Frank was born to
Herman and Catherine Melzer at Wrightstown, Wis., Aug. 6, 1877,
being the oldest of the family. Receiving a common school education
he had since worked at various kinds of work, the last few years
being employed as watchman at the round house. He had a chance to
go on the road firing, but being a home boy could not bear the
thought of being away from his mother and family, and kept to his
post at home until obliged to give up with failing health last Dec.
23rd. Frank’s
death is a hard blow to the mother and seems particularly sad as he
was the main support of the family, which is now left without a
wage earner and with only the little home they occupy. He leaves
besides the mother and father, who are divorced, one sister, Pearl,
and two brothers, Earl and Floyd, who are in school. Relatives from
away who were present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Sawyer
of Stratford and John Fransway of Appleton.
